Sr. Controls Engineer - DCS experience preferred   

Locations - Handley Station - Fort Worth TX, Colorado Bend II - Wharton TX, Wolf Hollow II - Granbury TX

Provide technical direction and guidance to site operations and maintenance staff for assigned discipline. The position involves system and equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance monitoring, and defining outage work and maintenance priorities. Disciplines include: boiler/aux, steam turbine/rotating equipment, I&C, electrical, pollution control and thermal performance. Other duties may include SRCM and chemistry depending on location.



  • Provides controls, electrical and I&C engineering support functions to the Handley, Colorado Bend II, Wolf Hollow II, and Hillabee sites including controls, electrical and I&C systems issue resolution, project implementation, seasonal readiness, and programmatic assessments.Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance.
  • Available for rotating shift work and overtime as required to meet normal task deadlines, projects, outages, and emergent support needs
  • Provide system/component troubleshooting and root cause analysis investigation.
  • Define outage work scope and assemble engineering work packages as necessary.
  • Prepare reports, procedures and proposals as required.
  • Works with central based Program and Reliability Engineers towards improving system and component reliability and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare capital project justification, installation oversight, and acceptance testing oversight.
  • Interface with plant asset OEM's to optimize equipment material condition and incorporate recommendations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other Engineering\Technical discipline with Industrial Process Controls minor and minimum of 5 years experience in Control System equipment maintenance, configuration and repair; OR an ISA CSE, CAP or CCST holder with 5 years experience in Power Generation; OR Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology or related field and a minimum of 10 years experience in Control System equipment maintenance, configuration and repair.

Valid Driver’s License.

Available for overtime, as required.

Demonstrated safe work record.

Demonstrated self-motivator.

Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Demonstrated knowledge and troubleshooting experience with electric generation systems and processes

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to multitask jobs with conflicting priorities.

Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products

Knowledge of codes and standards that apply to the repair and maintenance of power plant and process equipment.

Ability to successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position.

Ability to work in a power plant environment.



Ovation, MarkVIe, T3000 experience.  OSIsoft PI or similar Data Historian experience.
