Working closely with Basis and Cash traders, the associate will analyze, develop, and submit to the ISO all Point to Points (and related daily power basis activity), execute transactions under the team’s guidance, provide supporting evidence for daily power basis position strategy, and serve as a backup to all Cash daily decisions and logistical activity (Generation decisions, gas supply, ISO submissions, etc.). Daily interaction with the Transmission team to summarize each day’s key congestion risks and continued refinement of the information flow will be required. The associate will help develop and sanity check analyses to explain variances between actual and forecasted performance, partnering with finance and team members to provide accurate reporting and reconciliation of how the desk manages risk compared to Accounting and Daily Profit Statement representations of those results. The Trading Associate will assist in testing for Endur/ETRM, providing relevant updates/impacts to the respective team member. The associate is also expected to collaborate successfully with other members of the team, identifying process improvements, capitalizing on commercial opportunities, and potentially collaborating with other regions to improve overall floor efficiencies. As the above functions are performed in an efficient and successful manner, the associate will grow to support additional areas of P&L management as determined by individual skillset and experience.


  1. Daily Congestion Management (Basis ISO submissions, Daily Basis Trading, Analysis, Working with Transmission)

  2. Cash Back Up and Support (Learn all logistics, maintain knowledge and daily communication, perform certain supporting functions on a daily or ad hoc basis)

  3. Endur/ETRM support and testing
  4. P&L Explanations, Special projects, Ad Hoc, Other



  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, engineering, computer science, business administration or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in energy commodity markets
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Capability to deploy capital, while explaining the key variables, strategy and risks

  • Demonstrates cross-functional and cross-business unit acumen

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven record of accountability and attention to detail to drive things to completion

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong computer skills including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel and database familiarity

  • Trading Experience or Equivalent (Valuation, Risk Analysis, etc)

  • Knowledge of current risk reports and data flows
