You will be a part of the Exelon Structural Analytical Group; the ideal candidate will perform static and dynamic structure analyses, utilizing FEA programs and hand calculations to support our Nuclear Fleet. As apart of the team you will also assist lesser experienced engineers in performing engineering assignments as well as exercise independent technical discretion when performing engineering tasks (i.e. perform walkdowns, collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management).


- B. S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering


- Typically 5 years related civil or structural engineering field. 



- Advanced technical degree or related coursework 

 - Professional Engineer License or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training

- Experience with design codes and standards, specifically ACI 318, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, and ACI 349


- Excellent communication and writing skills


- Self-starter who enjoys working independently as well as with a team


- Experience in writing and providing support documentation for structural engineering calculations


- Experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD, STRUDL, or ANSYS


- Strong problem-solving skills















  As apart of the structural analytical group, you will provide engineering support in a variety of areas to our Nuclear fleet including but not limited to:


  • Structural Steel Design
  • Anchorage Design
  • Concrete Design
  • Subsurface design and analysis
  • Seismic qualification of equipment and structures
  • Pipe Stress Analysis
  • Pipe Support Design
  • Foundation Design 

Specific Duties:

  • Design and analyze foundations retaining walls and subsurface conditions (Haul Paths, Slope Stability, etc.)
  • Detailing of Structural Systems
  • Perform calculation and drawing reviews of outside vendor engineering.
  • Select criteria and methodology for design of structures
  • Review products to ensure applicable safety analysis, industry codes and regulatory requirements are followed. (AISC, ASCE, NUREG, IBC, etc.)
  • Preparation of cost estimates 
  • Independently manage limited scope projects 


Basic Duties:

  • Modeling and analysis of structures using STAAD, STAAD, STRUDL, ANSYS or similar FEA programs
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines

  • Criteria development of structural work
  • Participate in the company Engineering Response Organization (ERO)
  • Field walkdowns
