Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Familiar with codes and methods associated with reload analysis (e.g. CASMO, SIMULATE, GARDEL, RETRAN, VIPRE, and/or vendor equivalents).  Possesses solid computer skills including the usage Office Products, competent in the LINUX working environment, and programming skills / scripting.  Capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously in a quality fashion.  Able to work well independently and in a team.


- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement nuclear engineering analysis, activities and programs.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve nuclear fuel related problems.
- Provide complete task management of nuclear engineering issues.
- Perform nuclear engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles.
- Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
- Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
- Recommend new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify operations, reduce costs or comply with changes in codes or regulations.

- B. S. in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent Technical degree
- Minimum of 6 years Professional experience
-6 or more years solid performance with last 2 in top half of Engr 2 band
- Individual Contributor competencies, with demonstration of FLS competencies
- Professional Engineer Registration
- Advanced technical degree or related coursework
- Qualified Nuclear Engineer (QNE) / Reactor Engineering Qualification

- SRO / SRO Certification 


- Possesses specialty skills and performs advanced tasks independently with minimal supervisory review.
Performs nuclear engineering tasks independently and actively imparts knowledge to others. Higher level of accountability than an Engineer 2. Must be able to manage and implement nuclear engineering analysis and technical programs, has wide latitude to make technical decisions within accountabilities.

Department Specific Roles/Responsibilities: 

Independent Methods - Develops methods for application to core reloads in the areas of nuclear fuel neutronics, nuclear engineering, safety analysis, and reactor core monitoring.  Benchmarks methods to prior cycle operation and various industry fuel products.  Pursues licensing of developed methods via topical submission to regulatory bodies.  Establishes procedures, processes, and training for new methods.  Seeks value via innovation in the areas of fuel engineering and computer code application / development
