Primary Purpose of Position

This position will be within the Maintenance Department and is responsible for monitoring, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing plant instrumentation and controls in addition to associated administrative tasks.


Primary Duties and Accountabilities

1. Perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

2. Interpret and understand power plants.

3. Ability to work on cross-functional teams.

4. Adheres to the maintenance expectations and established maintenance standards and practices.

5. Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance, staff and engineering.

6. Verify/hold clearance orders.

7. Perform tuning, calibrations and troubleshooting of all process control systems.

8. Configure, program, maintain logic for PLC, DCS and microprocessor-based controllers and data loggers.

9. Perform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment such as pumps, motors gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, pipe systems, flanges, valves and actuators (disassembly, alignment, fitting, welding, part repair or replacement, assembly).

10. Perform impulse line installation/modification/repair as needed.

11. Perform rigging using tools such as fork trucks, cranes and chain blocks

12. Troubleshoot plant controls and electrical systems and complete repairs as necessary including, but not limited to, digital control systems & circuits, power circuits, and control devices on plant equipment.

13. Work with mechanical maintenance to cross train.

14. Perform verification checks on maintenance work.

15. Perform insulation installation and removal.

16. Plan work package planning when assigned.

17. Technical guide or point of contact for projects assigned for outage work.

18. Perform any other duties as assigned in accordance with technician skill level.


Position Specifications

1. Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR

2. HS Diploma with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology

3. Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position

4. Available for overtime

5. Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle

6. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

7. Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing, using lifts, and walking

8. Good oral and written communication skills

9. Basic computer skills

10. Experience in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls required

11. Experience with digital control systems such as; Siemens T3000, Mark V/VIE Turbine Controls, Ovation. OR PLCs such as; Allen Bradley, Siemens Simatic

12. Experience with valve maintenance and repair

13. Ability to plan maintenance work as a point of contact

- The incumbent in this position must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization
